What to wear for a maternity photoshoot

Clothing and styling are hard in themselves. Choosing what to wear is a daily task so when it comes to photoshoots it may become a bit confusing for mothers to decide what they should wear. What we wear in our day to day lives may not look the best on the day of your photoshoot. Therefore in this blog, we will talk about some tips and recommendations about the kind of clothing you can wear on your maternity photoshoot.

What style to wear on your maternity photoshoot

When it comes to maternity style, we would suggest you wear a flattering silhouette because it's just the right fit for you. It will make your baby bump look more plump and round. When it comes to flattering dresses, you can have a look at these types of clothing.

  • A dress or a top that is skin fitted just above the baby bump and below loose below the waist.

  • If you are wearing a frilled dress or a gown make sure that is long, just above the floor. This will give you an easy medium to move around. The flares of the dress should start from above the baby bump and not below. It looks more beautiful when you have something to flare around.

  • As we said, long dresses are more flattering than short ones when it comes to maternity photoshoots.

You can go with the choice of garment you want to wear if you have got something in your mind but these are some of my recommendations regarding your main outfit. You can have different styles too.

What colour to wear

Now the second most asked question about maternity photoshoots is what colour should you choose when it comes to maternity photoshoots. We would suggest that you wear something of light colour that would not cover anything. Meaning you should avoid wearing colours like black and dark blue because it would cover the baby bump completely.

But having said that, try avoiding too bright colours like neon orange or fuchsia. You can use medium tones and pastel colours.

What patterns to wear

The next most asked question is what kind of pattern we should wear. So I would suggest wearing medium-sized patterns to avoid covering. Too small patterns would not be captured by the camera too. Go for solid colours as they are the best.

Dress according to the season

Make sure you dress according to the season. If it's winter you can go for woollen cardigans or a long-sleeved dress. In summers you can go for any choice of your wardrobe.

Chunky knitted dresses are super fun when it comes to photoshoots. This is because you can always wear it off your shoulders and make it look more beautiful.

Bring some extras

Bring a couple more outfits to your maternity shoots. You can always choose your extra outfits according to the location. For example, if you have chosen a beach location, then you can always go for a skimpy top or a lacy cardigan to emphasize your be.

So these were some of my ideas and suggestions about what to wear on your maternity photoshoot day. Hopefully, now you have a better idea of your clothing for your D-day.
